Left Field Bleachers Rules

9:27 am in Suggestions, Uncategorized by kev

So, Tall Mike and I were talking recently.  While no good ever comes of that, we did decide to look into adding an ecommerce section to half-shirt, which is an harmless enough proposition.  The first — and most obvious — offering would be revamped ”Left Field Bleachers Rules” shirts, including a revamp of the “rules” themselves.

Which means, for starters, I need someone to post what the original rules are.

Anybody got ‘em?

So, the tailgate is on, but…

The twerps who always reserve the area and have the hyperexclusive port-a-john really went overboard with their reserving skills. I kinda cut and shortened their tape (so far they haven’t noticed, but when they do things could get interesting) and squeezed out enough room for a couple of cars, though…including mine. The lot has also maximized their “VIP section”, so there’s not as much free-form parking around here now, either.

Bottom line, same place, same time, but if it starts to rain on us, we’re going to need to get belligerent with some people.
Of course, it won’t rain until game time, so no worries.

“Blog”

First of all, I hate that term.  I might, however, be able to get past that if I like this.  With more posters, maybe it’ll work.

But the background HAS to go.  I’m sure it’s taking up tons of space and slowing things down, but it’s very distracting, at least on the computers I view it.  Depending on where you scroll to, you might not be able to see the links to the forum, etc. because of the background.  I think it needs to be simpler.  A background to me doesn’t become the focus of the page.  It’s for the same reason that I hate myspace.  Users on there go crazy with backgrounds and you can’t read anything.

Obscure Scrabble/Baseball Trivia

1:44 pm in Trivia/Facts/Stats by kev

A reproduction of Jesse’s post in the forum…

What father son pitching combo in the major leagues has the last name that earns the most points for an opening word play in Scrabble?

Hints:

  1. It’s worth 138 points, including the bingo.
  2. They have 11 appearances between them.

I expect no one to get this, because of the obscurity and random-ness.  It’s from a source, which I won’t reveal until I feel like it to avoid giving away the answer.

The 2008 Opening Day Tailgate!

12:16 pm in Events by kev

Opening Day Tailgate LocationThe location should be secured first thing in the morning, but it may be unmanned until 10:30am or so. It all depends..

Official Tailgate Start Time = 11:30am, but the beers will be cold and the grill will be preparing to fire up by 11:00.

Get in touch with me ahead of time for txt contact info.

Bring beverages, food and (or) 5-10 bucks. That’d be $5 for the unlimited* food, $5 for the unlimited* beer. (*If you go nuts with the term, feel free to adjust the figures upward as your conscience demands..)

WooHOO!

Re the photo: The “A” thumbtack is directly on The Billboard.

Remember, Monday is a normal workday, so parking downtown should suck quite a bit more than last year.
